It's funny when people compare Twitter with email or open Web. They say stuff like "Just like how email is a protocol, Twitter should turn itself into protocol. It's not fair for Twitter to monopolize the status update space.", or "Just like how the Web is open, Twitter should open source itself and let anyone tap into Twitter".
